Toronto is a lively, cosmopolitan, crowded city with one of the best qualities of life in North America. It is considered one of the best cities in the world to live in according to the Economist Intelligence Unit’s livability survey. It also has attractions such as the following, which you should not miss.
A night of contemporary art, this free event has been held since 2006, which so far has 1,300 art installations created by more than 4,600 artists, which has so far brought in more than C$268 million for the city of Toronto. It is an entire night dedicated to art from various regions of Canada and guest artists from around the world. The night transforms the streets and parks of the city into artistic spaces, housing exhibitions, installations, performances, and recreational activities.
The iconic Toronto tower, whose height is 553.33 meters, has three types of viewpoints to contemplate the city: Lookout, which is 346 meters high; Glass floor, which as its name says, has a glass floor and is 342 meters high, and Skypod, which is the highest of the viewpoints, is 447 meters from the floor. This year the CN Tower turns 40, so there will be new exhibitions and activities to celebrate. Also, on the occasion of the celebration, they launched an app to make your visit even more entertaining and interesting.
The One Toronto is an example of one of the best structural engineering in Canada. Located on One Bloor West, it is ten meters taller than Canada’s First Canadian Place, with a currently approved height of 308.5 meters. This is surely one of the finest architectural miracles in Toronto.
Without a doubt, this is my favorite attraction, to such an extent that I have already done it a couple of times and I would do it again without hesitation. It is a walk on the outside of the great sphere of the CN Tower, 356 meters high in the open air, which lasts approximately 30 minutes. This adventure, which will fill you with adrenaline, is very safe since to do it you must meet certain requirements, such as wearing a suit and special shoes that prevent the air at that height from damaging your body. Once up, you are supported by harnesses, which are hooked to strong ropes that, as security personnel say, “can support the weight of an elephant.” There is nothing more impressive to see when the doors are opened and the guide asks you to step forward, to experience a feeling of freedom at that height. The metal exterior platform you walk on is five feet long, so it also makes you feel very safe, as your feet will never be suspended in the air.
It is a must-do excursion when visiting Toronto. The Falls are on the Niagara River, which divides the United States and Canada. There are two main falls: Horseshoe, which is the most impressive for its height and its horseshoe shape; and the American, which although they are a little smaller, are still imposing. If you go in the summer, you can take the Maid of Mist boat tour, which gets as close to the falls as possible. Of course, you will end up soaked.
